Walking With hall


Within the Digital/Dialogues strand of the project we are excited to be working with game designer Antonino Frazzitta on a piece of locative literature, ‘Walking with Hall’. It is based on Stuart Hall’s perambulations on the University of Birmingham campus.

As we continue to develop this project, we are thinking with Hall about the importance of location to experience and understanding, the materiality of the archive, and the affordances of digital representation.


You can access our work in progress in two ways:




1. A “game” or “tour” version, currently available only on android devices, which will require you to visit sites around the University of Birmingham.

In this version, your device’s location will direct an avatar as you move around the campus. As you approach one of the checkpoints, as shown in the screenshots below, you will unlock pieces of information. We suggest you begin near Muirhead Tower.
