Stuart Hall: Positions and Trajectories Closing Keynote

The conference closed on Saturday 2 November with a keynote delivered by Professor Emerita Catherine Hall, in conversation with Professor Jeffrey Williams. The session was developed from a long interview conducted between Jeff and Catherine prior to the conference.

In the keynote, Catherine reflected on her life’s work as a historian and feminist. She gave a rich account of her intellectual and political development, and provided insights into the relationship between the discipline of history and the field of cultural studies, and her life with Stuart Hall. It was an extraordinary close to the conference, contributing to a major theme that emerged throughout the three days: critical dialogues with Stuart Hall and across generations.
